I had to turn off the radio on the way to work today. Every station, regardless of genre, was appropriately paying tribute to one of the most hideous anniversaries in world history. 9/11. The Day The Towers Fell. Give it what monicher you will. I still call it tragedy.
Throw out the findings of the 9/11 commission. Bare it no mind for the time being. Perhaps someday it will have some relevance as we continue to wage war, on terrorist, sympathizers and most shockingly, the American people.
Vice President Dick Cheney could not have chosen to serve under a better mentor of stupidity and callous neglect. The history is ripe with tales of reaping the rewards of exploiting human tragedy, this is not one of those occassions. According to Mr. Cheney, the ongoing war on terrorism, at least in part, is the fault of the free speaking citizens of the United States.
You see, it is Dick's contention that we are fueling the terrorist war machine by engaging in free speech and debate. We are bolstering those who would see America topple by openly discussing dissention amongst the ranks. For every opinion laden American that spouts rhetoric along the lines of "Bring our troops home!", there is a stronger, more fortified Al Quida. That, says VP Cheney, is exactly what the terrorists are doing to wage their war on homeland soil. They are causing us to disagree with the enabled body that leads us, speaks to the world on our behalf, acts to the world on our behalf. This is not to take away credit of the thousands of valiant and applauded, dare I say missed and needed at home men and women that are defending our civil liberties overseas. Though many of them would go of their own accord and many more that are not members of the Armed Forces with them as well, many are ready to come home. Many do see a flaw in our current course of actions, both service and civilian.
So, to put apples to apples, many of us are then, in fact, terrorist or sympathizerers.
Mr. Cheney, if I could command your attention for a moment...a couple hundred years ago, there were these dudes called the Founding Fathers...they wrote this thing...kinda big word, so lets break it down into syllables. Con-sti-tu-tion. Now, contrary to what you and Father Bush seem to be thinking these days, this was not written merely as a set of suggestions. This wasn't a scrawling of good ideas that could maybe be used to say, oh I don't know, shape a nation. This was our foundation. Remember that article about free speech? They made it really easy to remember. It's the first amendment fucker. They stuck it right up front partially for asshats like you, but more than likely (of course I'm speaking on pure conjecture since I wasn't there and the 1st Amendment Commission hasn't submitted it's findings yet) because IT WAS THE ONLY SUITABLE PRINCIPLE UNDER WHICH WE SHOULD LIVE. God bless thier forsight though. That good old Second Amendment..you know, the one about guns? I think they penciled that one in to protect and uphold the First Amendment. I got a word and a bullet for you. Both of them say die.
In closing, Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, liberal right and conservative left, if nothing that has been said in these words is ever remembered but one thing, let it be this. If ANY of you were even a cunt hair's width of a patriot that the lowliest passenger on Flight 93 was, it would stand to reason that our brothers, sisters, fathers, uncles, aunts, mothers would not be engaging a fools war. If any of you were a quarter as valiant as those souls, I would again be proud to be an American. If you see us as enemies, then let us be that.
You've already drawn a line in the sand with the blood of innocents. Watch me step past it with a fist to your blasphemous jaws as you shit on the memories of those who died at the hands of what we once thought was the clear enemy, now shrouded and masked by the assertion that We, the people, are actually at blame for using that same free speech that rolled out of your mouth and lulled your constituants into believing in your mockery dreams.
Let's be absolutely clear. Don't suppose me your enemy. Know me as such without a doubt in your addled mind.
